The title(ish) track is what gave me the impetus to group these tunes together, it was written on a trip to New Zealand and the vocals were recorded in the ruins of a 1920s hotel. I found a shovel that looked rusted, perhaps even a century old, and that's in the percussion track too. It was 7am and the winds were howling in the background.
Four Abandoned Hotels is all my influences colliding, I wanted the atmospherics of post rock in bite-sized chunks, I wanted to hear the math rock I love given a different sonic palette.

All sounds made, recorded and mixed by Joe Gould.
I recorded most of it at home in Newtown, Australia, with extra bits at Soundworks Studio in Marrickville, the ruins of the Lindis Pass Hotel in New Zealand, and a bit in my van between teaching jobs.
Thanks to Sarah Steel, Gordon & Leila Wallace, Emma Corrick, Jess McLean, Andy Lysle, Dan Stanley Freeman, all my family and friends who support my music.
